About Your Local ChapterThe First Capital District Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded on June 2, 1917. Mary McCord is the current Executive Director and supervises over 300 local volunteers. The chapter is responsible for a variety of community services, including responding to disasters, training citizens in disaster preparedness, providing education on health & safety topics, coordinating blood drives and assisting with armed forces emergency services. Call the Chapter House at 740-772-2014 to sign up for disaster preparedness courses. *The American Red Cross First Capital District Chapter has found it necessary to appeal to the public for donations. We have had a difficult year. We have met the disaster caused needs of 43 families since July 1, 2007 including, 12 families since March 1st alone. While most of these disasters were house fires, we also provided for families whose homes were damage and belongings were destroyed by floods and wind damage. American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. Please help us to make sure that we can continue to provide food, clothing and shelter to our neighbors who are in need by making a donation today. Send your donation to the American Red Cross, 115 W Main St., Chillicothe, OH 45601. Call the chapter at 740-772-2014 for more information.*
